random interesting danish fact

Friday, May 18th, 2007

The Copenhagen Zoo is the only place outside of Australia where you can find Tasmanian Devils.

In other news:
I looked at an amazing apartment today right across the Zoo. I won’t hear until sunday if I get it…

Ølfestival 2007 glassYesterday the Copenhagen Beer Festival (Københavnske Øldage) started and I visited this event with some colleagues from Zyb (zyb.com – use their service, it rocks!). There were about 1000 different kinds of beer of which I tried 12.

New experiences (some I won’t disclose here ;) ):
- Drinking beer from Greenland and the Faroe Islands
- Eating pølser (sausage) in a tent lined with wooden benches and drunk Danes
- Dancing at Rust (seriously Chris and Tommy, we need to go there more often!)

Other news:
I’m going to see an apartment tomorrow in Islands Brygge.

bike part 3

Now where did I leave my bike? The Danes have a very sophisticated way of parking their bikes. To save space, they just pile them up.

Like a proper Dane, I threw my bike on top when I got home.

Fisketorvet not cool, Magasin Du Nord cool!

I did find a good bakery and supermarket inside Fisketorvet though.

important things

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

One of the most important things in life I find supermarkets. I want to feel happy at my local shop. This week I learned:

Fakta = not cool; Superbrugsen = cool!

Other news: I entered the Danish bureaucracy today by registering at the Statsamt :/

Room with a ViewI managed to find a temporary house through the Gods of the Internet. I can only stay here till the end of May, but it’s really awesome! The photo shows the view, and actually the apartment I’m in is the same as the buildings across the street.
The only downside is that the street is named the ’shooting range’, so I’ll have to wear a bulletproof jacket.

exploration

Monday, April 9th, 2007

So, I was walking down the street in Vesterbro yesterday evening, trying to
find some food. And suddenly I found myself in this street filled with
massage parlors. Fishy of course… I walked around the corner, and BOOM,
red light district!

Every dutchie knows that you will find the best Thai food in the red
light district though. And I must say, it’s been a while since I had
such a lovely green curry! Mmmmmmm!

first day

Monday, April 9th, 2007

KlippekortWoot! I survived my first real day in København! So exhausted though. Didn’t sleep on saturday till 6am and had to get up at 5am on monday.

Today I took the bus from the apartment I’m staying this week to work. And I must say, the Danish public transport is quite sophisticated. Never had to wait longer than 2 minutes.
