folketingsvalg

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

I just did an online voting advice at the TV2 website:

Du er mest enig med:
A. Socialdemokraterne: Yildiz Akdogan (78%)
K. Kristendemokraterne: Michael Hedelund (77%)
K. Kristendemokraterne: Andreas Klein Eriksen (73%)

Du er mindst enig med:
O. Dansk Folkeparti: Anet Burchard (24%)
A. Socialdemokraterne: Michael Vindfeldt (39%)
Ø. Enhedslisten: Johanne Schmidt-Nielsen (40%)

While in Holland I would always end up with the post-communistic socialist party (SP), here I seem to end up with the Socialdemokraterne (Social Democrats, Labour, PvdA equivalent in Holland). What I find surprising is that there’s also a member of the social democrats on my list of people where I agree the least with. And Kristendemokraterne (Christian Democrats, CDA).. how did that end up on my list? I’d never ever vote that in Holland. It seems that the parties here take less stand as a whole but let their individual members speak out their opinions, at least a lot more than they do in Holland.

Ok, back to my saturday edition of Politiken to read more about these parties and their stands.

Too bad I can’t vote…

elections

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

The Danish PM called for elections today to be held on the 13th of November. I can’t vote myself but I will be following this with a lot of interest. Too bad that’s only 3 weeks away. I would’ve loved to see some more debating going on.

To follow the news, I subscribed myself to a trial membership of Politiken, a left-of-the-middle newspaper. Also good for practicing my Danish :)

fødselsdag

Aww, they sung me a danish birthday song at the class today!

Rico har fødselsdag,
Og det har han jo,
Og det er idag.
Rico har fødselsdag,
Og det har han jo idag!

Og hør nu her,
Hvordan vi alle
[insert playing instrument verb here] vil. 2x

holland vs nederlandene

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

The Danish government has been very stubborn of using the term Holland instead of the correct Netherlands to name my home country (Holland is just a part of The Netherlands).

I found out that they’re in the process of changing this to Nederlandene though. Post Danmark has been one of the first to put this change in their systems. And the police in København too, because a dutch guy complained when he got ‘Holland’ on his new drivers license…

Many Danes become irritated when foreigners speak Danish with an accent, according to a study conducted at the University of Copenhagen. Read the full article here.

And then they wonder why they’re slacking at integration..

complaint

Ok, time to write something negative about Denmark. They seriously should reconsider opening times of shops! It’s saturday 17:30 and all supermarkets are closed already :( It’s raining, and I’m hungry!

Jeg er hollænder og jeg tale selfølgelig hollandsk men jeg tale også lidt dansk!

En, to, tre… tyve!

Oh, and the book we’re using is the same one Princess Mary used!
