frisøren

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Today I went to the most expensive hairdresser I’ve ever been in my life. They’re not hard to find, because at all hairdressers here in København you pay twice as much as in Amsterdam.

There were some nice perks though:

  • They had a wine menu!
  • Massage chairs for the hair washing
  • There were TV’s embedded in the mirrors, which you could control with your own remote control

And they also cut your hair, isn’t that amazing?

Gypsy folk punk, sung in Norwegian. Guys wearing gas masks, and crowbars. Where have I been tonight?

danish tax office rant

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

“Leuker kunnen we het niet maken, wel makkelijker!” is the slogan of the Dutch tax office. It translates into “We can’t make it funnier/nicer, but we can make it easier!”. Try to think of that slogan when they send you a 50 pages form.

The Danish tax office is called SKAT, which could be translated into dear (english), or sweetie, or schat (in dutch).

They’re not sweet at all though… they just sent me a letter to pay around 5000 dkk more over 2007 :( Something I of course didn’t expect because I already paid the GNP of a small African country to them.

2008 the concert year

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

So far 2008 has been an awesome year for concerts already. I’ve seen:

  • Benni Hemm Hemm - Funny, different, parody on themselves
  • The Cure - Rather unpersonal due to that lousy hall (Forum)
  • Lise Westzynthius - Cute
  • Efterklang - Amazing live performance, didn’t expect that!
  • Murcof - Slightly disappointing, too short, uninspiring visuals
  • Patrick Watson - Really, REALLY good, and I love Loppen
  • Portishead - Best concert of the year, so far!

Upcoming:

  • RADIOHEAD!!
  • (well, and the rest of Roskilde)

I just realized I’ve been here for a year. I guess I should go out and drink a…. Tuborg!

nike+

I really like this iPod + Nike Web 2.0 integration. I think it’s pretty cool that you can see your runs online and share with your friends. While I’m really not a good runner, in the three runs I’ve done now, I can see that I went from a pace of 5′17″/km to 4′58″/km over the same distance. Now that it’s getting better weather, I think I’ll raise the frequency a bit. I find it a bit hard to get out of bed earlier in the morning, so I guess I should try to do it in the early evening after work.

jeg har bestået testen

dansk-modules.jpgSo I passed the test for Danskuddannelse 3, module 3 last Tuesday. That basically means 12 more weeks for module 4, and then 18 weeks for module 5 until I reach the level of Prøve i Dansk 3. Which is the official European level B2 and the requirement to become a Danish national (no plans :) ).

I guess I have something to entertain me for some more time..
