symphony orchestra crossover

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

One of the best things to see live, imho, is your favorite band playing with a full-blown (about 100 people) symphony orchestra. A few of my personal favorite recordings:

  • Nitin Sawhney with the Metropole Orchestra supporting the silent movie A Throw of Dice
  • Portishead with the New York Philharmonic
  • Bauer (dutch, but not Frans) also with the Metropole Orchestra

Know any more?

at klippe vs at kneppe

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

Two verbs that look very much alike but mean two completely different things which can lead to rather uncomfortable situations. Especially considering that knippen (pronounced like kneppe) in Dutch means klippe in Danish.

A. “Du skal også farves, ikke?”
B. “Nej, jeg skal bare kneppes!”

A. “Jeg vil gerne have et kneppekort.”

A. “Hvor mange gange skal jeg knepper, når jeg skal til Hellerup?”
