This weekend it was 75 years ago that the Afsluitdijk (Closure-dike) was finished in Holland, converting a wild sea (Zuiderzee) into a calm lake. The IJsselmeer is Western Europe biggest lake now.
I’m proud to say that my great-aunt Grietje Bosker was the first person to cross the closed dike. She managed to do it before all the invited notables did
The new Metro underground extension to Copenhagen International Airport will open a month ahead of schedule, reported Berlingske Tidende newspaper Friday.
‘It’s very satisfying that we’re able to open the third stage of the Metro ahead of schedule and within the budget,’ said Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, the corporation’s managing director.
So why do Dutch building projects ALWAYS finish later than schedule and way over budget?

Not only ISP’s are incompetent, banks are pretty good at it too. My bank in Holland decided to cancel/block my credit card. Apparently because they sent me a new one. However, they forgot to check if I actually received and activated the new card, which I obviously haven’t…
My incompetent hosting provider let the harddisk of my server crash
Thanks to Google and Ole I managed to save my blog entries. Though I did lose all comments.
Anyway, we’re back online!
The Copenhagen Zoo is the only place outside of Australia where you can find Tasmanian Devils.
In other news:
I looked at an amazing apartment today right across the Zoo. I won’t hear until sunday if I get it…

Yesterday the Copenhagen Beer Festival (Københavnske Øldage) started and I visited this event with some colleagues from Zyb (zyb.com – use their service, it rocks!). There were about 1000 different kinds of beer of which I tried 12.
New experiences (some I won’t disclose here
):
- Drinking beer from Greenland and the Faroe Islands
- Eating pølser (sausage) in a tent lined with wooden benches and drunk Danes
- Dancing at Rust (seriously Chris and Tommy, we need to go there more often!)
Other news:
I’m going to see an apartment tomorrow in Islands Brygge.
